Wow! Congress Rushed A Bill Proposition to get rid of the Department of Education only minutes after the confirmation of Betsy DeVos

One of the most gruelling confirmation hearings that have ever been seen was what the new education secretary Betsy DeVos had to go through. Thankfully vice president Mike Pence had the deciding vote and she was confirmed.

It now looks like she is going to make massive changes to the department, possibly even looking to get rid of it.

In a slight bit of irony, a Republican Representative from the state of Kentucky, Thomas Massie, introduced H.R. 899, a bill written to abolish the Department of Education in it’s entirety, on the same day that Vice President Pence cast the unprecedented, tie-breaking vote to confirm that department’s new Secretary, Betsy DeVos.

Apparently Massie is “in to the whole brevity thing” as the entire bill consists of a single sentence:

“The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018.” – Zerohedge

Since the Department first came in 40 years ago, results have steadily decreased and our students are now in the lower 30 of the top industrialized nations.
