Rand Paul is rapidly emerging as a prominent leader in the US Senate. Almost single-handedly he represented the conservative voice in the Ryancare negotiations, meeting with Trump several times at the White House and even making a trip to Florida last weekend for a round of golf with the President.
He’s also taking the lead and demanding the tough answers from Barack Obama and Susan Rice in the Obamagate surveillance scandal.
Today he appeared on Fox News and put forth the real questions that need to be answered. Here’s a partial transcript of Paul’s remarks via DailyCaller.com:
I don’t think she answered the question, ‘did she unmask people in the Trump administration?’” the Kentucky Republican first posed. “She said, ‘maybe I did, but I didn’t do it for political reasons.’”
“I think it’s incumbent on her to show to the American people why it wouldn’t have been a political reason.”
“If someone were investigating the Trump administration, it ought to be the F.B.I. not someone in the White house,” he continued. “She’s a political appointee that reports directly to the president.”
“The real question we need to ask is did the president eavesdrop and sift through all of the mountains of intelligence we have?”
“Did you know that over a million Americans’ phone calls are listened to without a warrant?” he asked Kilmeade. “We need to protect American privacy.”
“We can’t allow intelligence to be used for political purposes.”
Paul’s exactly right! And another question for Rice… with all of Hillary’s and Podesta’s dealings with the Russians, how come nobody on her campaign was surveilled and unmasked?
The bottom line here is that we can’t let Obama and Rice off the hook. Fortunately, with guys like Nunes, Gowdy, and now Paul running point, it looks like we’ll get the answers we’re looking for.
