Unlike his predecessor, Donald Trump is not going to let North Korea become the nuclear bully of world. Unfortunately, things could get ugly before they get better.
After being completely embarrassed by a failed missile launch over the weekend, North Korea has vowed to keep conducting more missile tests on a weekly basis, and the country’s foreign minister Han Song-Ryol said that a “nuclear war could break out at any moment on the Korean peninsula.”
At question is just how much nuclear ability the North Koreans already possess. Some say it’s not much, but would still be enough to wreak havoc on neighbors South Korea and Japan. Others fear they could reach Hawaii or other American bases in the region with some sort of nuclear launch, but the consensus seems to be that they’re still a couple of years away from having that capability.
Still, the Trump administration is not sticking its head in the sand and hoping that things don’t get worse.
During a visit the the Demilitarized Zone in South Korea today, Mike Pence warned the North Koreans not to test the resolve of the United States. He continued, “We will defeat any attack and we will meet any use of conventional or nuclear weapons with an overwhelming and effective response,” and added that all options are on the table.
Reports today further revealed that the US is sending two more aircraft carriers to the region to join the Carl Vinson which is due in within the next week.
Unlike, Obama, Trump is not content to sit back and watch our enemies embolden themselves. He means business!
Do you approve of the job Trump is doing as commander-in-chief?
